Create and use user groups
Create reusable, account-level groups of users so you can assign several people at once instead of selecting them individually every time.
Overview
A User group is a named set of users defined once at the account level. Once a group exists, you can select it wherever groups are supported — for example when assigning reviewers to a defect — and everyone in the group is added in a single step.
Before you start
- User groups are managed under Settings > Personnel > User groups.
- Creating, editing, and deleting groups uses your personnel permissions (the permissions to read, create, update, and delete employees).
Create a user group
- Go to Settings > Personnel > User groups.
- In the New user group field, enter a name. You can also enter an optional Display ID.
- Click Add group.
Add or remove members
- Click a group in the list to open it.
- Use Add members and Select users to choose the people to include.
- Click Save members.
- To take someone out of the group, use Remove member.
Tip: Update a group's membership once and every future assignment that uses the group reflects the change — you do not need to edit each record individually.
Rename or delete a group
- Open the group to rename it or change its Display ID, then save.
- To delete a group, use the Delete action and confirm in the Delete user group? dialog.
Note: Deleting a group only removes the group. It does not remove or change the users who were in it.
Assign a group to a defect
User groups appear as their own section in the defect's Reviewer selector.
- Create or edit a defect.
- Open the Reviewer field (it is required).
- Under User groups, select a group. Every member of the group is added at once. You can still add individual people under Users.
- Save the defect.
