Editing the same record at the same time

If two people edit the same checklist, defect or work order at once, Shoreline no longer lets the second person's save silently replace the first person's changes.

What you see

When you save and someone else has changed the record since you opened it, a Changes conflict window appears: "This record was changed by [name] on [date] while you were editing. Do you want to overwrite their changes with yours?" (If the other person cannot be identified, it says "changed by another user".)

  • Select Overwrite to save your version over theirs.
  • Close the window to save nothing. You then see "Your changes were not saved. Reload the record to see the latest version." Reload the record to pick up the latest version before trying again.

Where it applies

The check applies to checklists, defects and work orders.

Note: The check is skipped while you work offline. Changes you save offline are applied when you reconnect, so an offline edit can replace a newer online change. See the offline mode guidance in the Use Shoreline as an app article.
