How to build an onshore O&M case

Purpose

Learn how to create and configure an Onshore Operations & Maintenance (O&M) case in Shoreline to simulate scheduled maintenance and resource logistics for an onshore wind site.


Prerequisites

  • Access to Shoreline Case Builder

  • An available weather file for the onshore site

  • A populated Input Library

  • Basic understanding of maintenance tasks and logistics setup

Steps

1. Create a new case

  1. From the Case Builder, click Add Case.

  2. Name the case, e.g. “O&M Onshore.”

  3. Open the case and navigate to Build and Bases, and select a base.

  4. Navigate to Assets and add a preferred number of turbines to the case.

  5. On the map, mark the site corners to define the project location.

  6. Click Next to populate the site.


2. Add a scheduled maintenance task

  1. Click Add Task and give it a name, e.g. “Annual Inspection.”

  2. Define the campaign parameters, such as campaign start date, recurrence.

  3. Assign transport and personnel requirements. 


3. Add a corrective maintenance task

  1. Click Add Task and give it a name, e.g. “Major Component Exchange.”
  1. Under Failure, mark severity, curtailment, lifetime distribution, and annual failure rate.

  2. Assign any transport capable of performing the work.


4. Select weather data

  1. Select an existing weather file for the onshore site.

5. Configure logistics

  1. Under Logistics, add your required transports, e.g. Site Crane and Site car.

  2. Choose a base as the location.

  3. Set a Quantity, e.g. 2.


5. Add personnel

  1. Under Personnel, click Add Group.

  2. Name the group, e.g. Techs.

  3. Set Quantity, e.g. 12.

  4. Assign Skill, e.g. Tech.

  5. Click Save.


6. Set simulation parameters

  1. Open the Strategy tab.

  2. Set the Simulation duration, e.g. 5 years.

  3. Set the Number of runs, e.g. 3.

  4. Run the simulation and view results in the Output tab.


Outcome

You’ve successfully created an Onshore O&M case simulating annual inspections, site logistics, and personnel scheduling over a 5-year period.
