Youwind Layout Import
YouWind Layout Import lets you place turbines in a Design case using turbine positions received from YouWind.
Use this when you are creating or updating a case and want to use the wind farm layout from YouWind instead of placing turbines manually or using the default layout.

Where to find YouWind Layout Import
You can find the feature in:
Project > Case > Asset > Import from YouWind
The button appears in the case asset configuration area, where turbine positions are managed.
Before you start
To use this feature:
- Your organization must have YouWind wind farm data available in Shoreline.
- The YouWind wind farm must belong to your customer account.
- You must have access to the project and case you want to update.
- The current case must already contain the turbine assets you want to position.
Import turbine positions from YouWind
- Open the relevant project.
- Open the case you want to update.
- Go to the asset configuration area.
- Select the relevant turbine asset group.
- Click Import from YouWind.
- Choose the YouWind wind farm you want to import from.
- Wait for the import to complete.
- Review the turbine positions in the case.
The import updates the latitude and longitude of turbines in the current case.
Available YouWind wind farms
The Import from YouWind dropdown lists the YouWind wind farms available for your customer account.
Each available wind farm may include:
- Wind farm name
- Number of turbine positions available
- Last updated date
Only wind farms already received from YouWind are available to import.
What is imported
The import updates turbine positions only.
The following values are imported:
- Latitude
- Longitude
The following values are not imported or changed:
- Turbine type
- Turbine count
- Asset setup
- Case settings
- Other configuration values
- Other objects or data from YouWind
How turbine positions are matched
Turbine positions are applied to the turbines that already exist in the selected asset group.
If the number of turbines in the case and the number of turbine positions in YouWind are different:
- If YouWind has fewer turbine positions than the case, only the matching number of turbines are updated. The remaining turbines keep their existing positions.
- If YouWind has more turbine positions than the case, only the matching number of positions are used. Extra YouWind positions are not added.
- The import does not create new turbines.
- The import does not remove existing turbines.
Important limitations
- This is an MVP integration and imports turbine positions only.
- The import overwrites the existing latitude and longitude for the turbines it updates.
- The import does not update turbine names, types, counts, or other asset details.
- The import does not create a new case.
- The import does not create new turbine assets.
- Only valid turbine point locations from YouWind can be imported.
- Wind farms are limited to the YouWind data available for your customer account.
- If no YouWind data has been received for your account, there may be nothing to select.
Troubleshooting
I cannot see the Import from YouWind button
Check that you are in the correct location:
Project > Case > Asset
You also need access to the case. If you still cannot see the button, contact your Shoreline administrator or Shoreline support to confirm whether YouWind data is enabled for your account.
The dropdown is empty
This usually means Shoreline does not currently have any YouWind wind farm data available for your customer account.
Ask your administrator to confirm that YouWind data has been sent to Shoreline for your organization.
The wind farm I need is missing
Only wind farms received for your customer account are listed. If a wind farm is missing, confirm that it exists in YouWind and that it has been shared or sent to Shoreline for your account.
Not all turbines were updated
The import only updates the number of turbines that can be matched between the current asset group and the selected YouWind wind farm.
For example, if the case has 50 turbines but the YouWind wind farm has 45 valid turbine positions, only 45 turbines are updated.
Some turbine positions look unchanged
This can happen if the selected YouWind wind farm has fewer valid turbine positions than the current case, or if some YouWind positions could not be imported.
Review the selected wind farm and confirm that the expected turbine positions are available in YouWind.
The import updated the wrong layout
The import applies positions to the current asset group in the open case. Before importing, make sure you are in the correct project, case, and asset group.
I need to undo an import
There is no dedicated undo action for this import documented. If the wrong wind farm was imported, import the correct YouWind wind farm or manually adjust the turbine positions.
