Getting started
To get you started with Shoreline Design, we've outlined the first 5 steps for any newcomer. The hardest part of getting started is configuring a case. That's why we've created getting-started guides for the main types of cases both in Design Construction and Design O&M.
Getting-started guides
Choose a guide based on your needs and we'll walk you through setting up your first case from scratch. Along the way, we'll introduce key concepts and features, so you're confident you can get the most out of Shoreline Design.
Here are our getting-started guides:
The first 5 steps
These 5 simple steps take you from a brand new Shoreline Design account to a configured case with output metrics.
1. Set up your input library
Load all your assets, logistics, bases, and weather files into a central database. Everything you add to your input library is available to all users within your account when they configure a case (step 3)
Start adding content to your input library with our guides.
2. Create a project and a case
A project is essentially a folder within which you create and store cases. A case is a configuration of bases, assets, logistics, etc., that you run simulations on. Create a project, then create a case.
3. Configure your case
Here's where the real magic happens.
Select what assets, logistics, weather, and bases you need to model the construction or operations and maintenance of your wind farm. These all come from your input library that you set up in step 1.
You will also add personnel and define your strategy.
The complexity comes from making sure all these components are linked together. Start by adding your bases, then your assets, logistics, and personnel, before finally defining your case strategy.
Our guides cover every aspect of case configuration.
To help any first timers, we've created some getting-started guides that walk you through every step of case configuration. The best way to learn is by doing!
4. Run a simulation
With your case configured, you simply have to choose your simulation settings and hit the big red button to run a simulation. Shoresim takes care of the rest, modeling the entire construction or O&M project for you.
5. View your outputs and reports
Once your simulation runs are complete, you can view the results as output metrics, covering everything from campaign duration and weather downtime to personnel utilization and PBA.
You can view the results as graphs in the output dashboard or you can download an output report for review in Excel.
